Hours of Operation:

The majority of the Building Trades staff are scheduled to work a Monday – Friday shift from early morning to early afternoon, with alternate shifts covering evenings, graveyards and weekends as necessary.

Scope of services:

The Building Trades unit is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of campus facilities. Building Trades provides services for construction and remodeling projects in support of academic and administrative programs. This type of work is typically performed on a charge back basis. Estimates can be made by request through the Service Center.

  • Auto Shop
    The Auto Shop repairs and provides preventative maintenance for all State-owned vehicles purchased by the University. In addition to cars used by University personnel, such as University Police patrol cars and vehicles in the University Motorpool, electric carts used by various campus operations are also maintained by the Auto Shop.
  • Lock Shop
    The Lock Shop installs, maintains and repairs all door locks, cabinet and desk locks on campus. They will also re-key locks and make additional keys. University personnel can request keys through their department who will complete a key request and submit it to the Service Center. When the key is made (usually within 3 days) it will be sent to University Police for distribution. University Police requires the key holder to come in with identification to sign the key out. University Police keeps a record of all the keys signed out and turned in by campus personnel. For security purposes, only the Lock Shop is authorized to install or remove locks on campus.
  • Carpenter Shop
    Carpenter Shop provides remodeling, repair and minor construction services.
  • Paint Shop
    Paint Shop paints and resurfaces all University facilities.
